OBITUARY Frontman Issues Post-ILHA DO ERMAL Festival Update
August 31, 2009Florida death metallers OBITUARY were one of 45 artists that performed at the Ilha do Ermal festival, which was held August 28-30 in Vieira do Minho, Portugal.
Commented vocalist John Tardy: "It was quite the trip to Portugal and back for one festival, but I am glad we did it!
"Believe it or not, this was our first time to Portugal and we really had a good time! It was a great show and it such a beautiful place. We appreciate all the support from the fans and we will be back to see you again soon!
"SEPULTURA was playing the night after us, but they were there to watch us, hang out and have a few cool ones. They are good friends of ours and it was good to see them.
"This show wraps up our European Festivals for the 2009 and it is now time to focus on the start of our U.S. tour that starts September 3rd in Tucson, AZ!
"I have been getting lots of fan emails from our U.S. fans and we are ready to hit the road and tear this place up! I hope to see you all out there!
"We do have shows confirmed in both Mexico in October and Australia in November!"
"Darkest Day", the new album from OBITUARY, landed at position No. 32 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"Darkest Day" was released on June 30 via Candlelight Records.
The band once again worked with artist Andreas Marschall, who created the art for "The End Complete", "Frozen in Time", and the group's last record, "Xecutioner's Return".
